meh, no real-id

bummer…

Hello everyone,

I’d like to take some time to speak with all of you regarding our desire to make the Blizzard forums a better place for players to discuss our games. We’ve been constantly monitoring the feedback you’ve given us, as well as internally discussing your concerns about the use of real names on our forums. As a result of those discussions, we’ve decided at this time that real names will not be required for posting on official Blizzard forums.

It’s important to note that we still remain committed to improving our forums. Our efforts are driven 100% by the desire to find ways to make our community areas more welcoming for players and encourage more constructive conversations about our games. We will still move forward with new forum features such as conversation threading, the ability to rate posts up or down, improved search functionality, and more. However, when we launch the new StarCraft II forums that include these new features, you will be posting by your StarCraft II Battle.net character name + character code, not your real name. The upgraded World of Warcraft forums with these new features will launch close to the release of Cataclysm, and also will not require your real name.

I want to make sure it’s clear that our plans for the forums are completely separate from our plans for the optional in-game Real ID system now live with World of Warcraft and launching soon with StarCraft II. We believe that the powerful communications functionality enabled by Real ID, such as cross-game and cross-realm chat, make Battle.net a great place for players to stay connected to real-life friends and family while playing Blizzard games. And of course, you’ll still be able to keep your relationships at the anonymous, character level if you so choose when you communicate with other players in game. Over time, we will continue to evolve Real ID on Battle.net to add new and exciting functionality within our games for players who decide to use the feature.

In closing, I want to point out that our connection with our community has always been and will always be extremely important to us. We strongly believe that Every Voice Matters, ( http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/mission.html ) and we feel fortunate to have a community that cares so passionately about our games. We will always appreciate the feedback and support of our players, which has been a key to Blizzard’s success from the beginning.

Real-ID drama

July 9th, 2010

So Blizzard decided to make your name public on their forums..I don’t see why people throw such a tantrum about that, anyway, it does lead to some funny shit being posted everywhere. I saw some nice vids on youtube last night, ctrl-alt-del made a funny about it acompanied with a nice blog post. And me, well I have nothing to add, I agree with Blizz using the Real-ID on their forums, and if people don’t like it they can choose not to use the Blizzard forums..simple as that :)

Anyway, here’s some funnies I found about the real-id, starting off with what Comrade Leon-Stalin Junior thinks about Real-ID

what 4-chan thinks about Battle.net real-id

Check out how many people share your name in the United States..I appear to have 17 overseas clones o_O

Ctrl+Alt+Del - A troll by any other name... (2010-07-07)

And I’m pretty sure more will follow soon.. I love drama :)

I really hope Blizzard doesn’t chicken out of this decision, because just like the ctrl-alt-del blog guy, I am really interested to see what will happen

Xenrathe of StarCraft tactics is doing a great job programming the engine and making some very cool custom abilities, here’s a preview of his latest creation, the high-end Summons: Arcturus the Lost..

it also shows a bit of the custom ui that I’m working on for this game.

Talking about custom ui for this game, here’s a quick preview of the next part I’m workin on, the Character dialog..

which is based on the original dialog from Final Fantasy Tactics

As you can see, it’s not completely finished yet, but work on it is progressing good enough for me to say that I should finish it by tomorow evening.

World of Warcraft – Free to play?

July 1st, 2010

This hit my eye today..I doubt I can resist the urge to start playing again whenever they go free to play..

Blizzard is musing over a free-to-play business model for massively multiplayer online game World of Warcraft.

Speaking to PC Gamer, World of Warcraft lead designer Tom Chilton, admitted that, “at some point, it may not make sense for us to have a subscription fee.”

However, he quickly clarified that: “We’re not spending a lot of time thinking about it. It’s not something that’s a reality for us in the near future.”

I suppose that when WoW has enough micro-transactions going on and a true WoW-killing mmo comes along, it would be a wise step of Blizzard to make Warcraft free to play. Or, who knows, they might go f2p close after releasing their next mmo.

Lock’n'Reloaded – The Sexy Edition

June 30th, 2010

Today I got the request for reposting the Lock’n'Reloaded sexy mod. Appearantly it still works with the current version of WoW, something I didn’t expect. I’m quite surprised it’s still working, also happy people like it. So, here it is again:

A mod especially for hunters, it gives you a pop-up warning whenever Lock’n'Load procs so that you never can miss spamming that explosive shot of yours. The addon is based on an addon I made a while ago, also called Lock’n'Reloaded, which itself is based on an addon made by Whinger who simply called it Lock’n'Load Alert. Both can be found on Curse: Lock’n'Reloaded Lock’n'Load Alert.

This new version will give you a nice picture of a Cowgirl pin-up telling you Lock’n'Load has procced. The picture is draggable, so you can put it anywhere on the screen.

Plans for a future version include randomisation of the Image and added (sexy) sounds. If you got any requests for future versions, or maybe you would like your own girlfriend included in this mod, feel free to post a message here or send me an e-mail.

I hope all you (milf) Hunters out there will enjoy this one, download it **HERE**

At the moment I quit playing WoW, but I plan on coming back when Cataclysm is released and with my return there will be updated versions of the sexy mods and ofc some new ones I was planning. Untill then, enjoy these!
